WHAT HAPPENS IF I FAIL TO PAY MY LEVY?

The body corporate can take action in an appropriate Court to recover unpaid levies. In extreme cases, the Court may order the sale of the owner's movable assets, or
even the sectional unit itself. As all owners in a scheme have to pay a levy, any owner who fails to pay his or her levy, while continuing to enjoy the benefits of
 living in the scheme, is doing so at the expense of all the other owners. An owner  who is in arrears with his or her levy may not vote at a general meeting of the body
 corporate, except for proposed special or unanimous resolutions. The body corporate  is entitled to charge interest on arrears. All costs involved in recovering money
owed by an owner to the body corporate can be claimed from the owner.
